Smita Jadhav Avoids Gokul Election Questions After Uncle Satej Patil’s Victory
BJP's Pune Graduate constituency candidate Smita Jadhav avoids questions about maternal uncle Satej Patil's Gokul election victory in Pandharpur, while his panel wins 13 of 25 director posts in the closely contested Kolhapur milk union election.
Jadhav, who is also associated with Kolhapur politics, had visited Pandharpur to seek the blessings of Lord Vitthal on Tuesday night, October 20, on the occasion of Dussehra. During her visit, journalists asked her about the Gokul milk union election result. As soon as the subject came up, she reportedly said it was getting late and left, avoiding further questions about the outcome.
When a journalist asked her about the Gokul result announced the previous day, Jadhav responded, “Nothing, no comments!” Her reaction and subsequent departure indicated that she was unwilling to discuss the election, in which her maternal uncle, Satej Patil, had secured a victory.
Gokul Election Result 2026: Satej Patil’s Panel Establishes Dominance
In the closely contested election for 25 director posts at Kolhapur’s prominent Gokul milk union, the Rajarshi Shahu Shetkari Samvichari Panel, led by Satej Patil, won 13 seats, establishing its position in the election.
Polling for the election took place on October 18, with almost all voters exercising their franchise, except for just two voters. Vote counting began on the morning of Monday, October 19. Initially, candidates from the ruling Mahayuti panel were leading. However, as counting progressed, the situation changed, and candidates from the Samvichari Panel established a strong lead by the afternoon, celebrating their victory.
The election witnessed a direct and closely fought contest between the Mahayuti-backed Rajarshi Shahu Shetkari Vikas Aghadi and the Rajarshi Shahu Shetkari Samvichari Aghadi led by Satej Patil. A total of 50 candidates from the two panels contested the election.
Gokul Election 2026: Political Equations and Intense Contest
In the previous election, minister Hasan Mushrif and Satej Patil had joined forces to contest together. However, in the 2026 election, the two prominent leaders stood on opposing sides.
The Nationalist Congress Party, Bharatiya Janata Party, Shiv Sena and Jan Surajya Party joined hands to form the Mahayuti alliance. Congress MLA and former minister Satej Patil, meanwhile, brought together the Samvichari Panel to challenge the alliance.
Mahayuti entered the contest with the advantage of being in power and the strong backing of several prominent political leaders. Despite this, Satej Patil’s extensive campaign, political strategies and emotional appeal to voters added intensity to the contest. The final results showed that his Samvichari Panel secured the advantage, winning 13 of the 25 director posts.
Against this political backdrop, Smita Jadhav’s decision to avoid questions about her maternal uncle’s victory drew attention during her visit to Pandharpur. Her “no comments” response and departure when the Gokul election was mentioned left her position on the result unaddressed.
